School students made a working tractor out of scrap, for donation

Pasadena Poly comes among one of the best schools in Los Angeles, nationally reputed to produce scholars, artists and athletes. However, these two kids who have graduated from Pasadena Poly have spent their whole summers working on building a tractor out of salvage. These students intend to donate the tractor to South Central Farmers.

Hayden Betts and Daniel Leon, both of them aged 18, are the ones working on the project, one of them will be going to the School at Harvard and the other one to University of San Francisco, respectively. They took engineering classes at Pasadena Poly and learnt some basics, took a while gathering salvage and funds and started off building the tractor out of gathered scrap and funds. An open source ecology program helped them build it. They were inspired to build the tractor out of scratch by watching a “Ted Talk” of a guy named “Marcin Jakubowski” who also builds prototypes of big machines out of scratch.
