Solar power and bluetooth 4.0 combine to power and actuate a very slick game controller for your iPhone

Having a responsive and tough touch screen is all very good and rather basic now in smartphones. But say what one may, the joy of leaping over pits, collecting gold coins or shooting your nemesis with a sniper rifle is best relished with buttons. Yes, we’re talking of game controllers. A touch screen can go only so far as to simulate buttons for use within a game but the feel of the press of an actual, physical button is quite unparalleled which is why Justice Frangipane has come up with a an iPhone game controller which is unique in its own way.

The uniqueness of the game controller lies in the fact that it is solar powered, very thin and integrated within the phone case itself. The solar power feature goes a long way in conserving battery which can be a boon for avid gamers who are always exposed to the risk of running battery down and missing calls. You not only enjoy the game with physical buttons but also avoid touching the sceen as often, conserving precious battery spent otherwise on the touchscreen. Bluetooth 4.0 further reduces battery consumption because of its inherent battery saving feature. The controller snaps into the back of a very thin iPhone case.

Even Apple seems impressed with the contraption. This becomes evident from Frangipane’s mentioning that Apple approves of the controller and is ready to work with his team for making it more and more compatible to most games on the iOS platform. Being a prototype, the device at the moment gives the appearance of a home engineered apparatus but Frangipane mentions that by its launch, the control pods with neatly snap onto the front of the device, within the frame making wires and connections almost inconspicuous. It is expected for the controller to be seen in market in 2013, priced at $60.
